HIV/AIDS is a major public health concern and cause of death in many parts of Africa. Although the continent is home to about 15.2 percent of the world's population, Sub-Saharan Africa alone accounted for an estimated 70 percent of all people living with HIV and 70 percent of all AIDS deaths in 2011( DF Schwarz,2007). The AIDS epidemic has made life expectancy in nine countries in Africa dropped by 40 years of age. The prevention of the spread of HIV for African governments is a very difficult task.
Stephanie Nolen, an award-winning Canadian journalist and writer, has lived in Africa for six years. The most recurring theme in her coverage was the health, social, and political consequences of the AIDS epidemic in Africa She witnessed how AIDS was destroying the vast land of Africa and the aftermath of conflict in Sierra Leone and Rwanda. Her work calls for more attentions on the issues. One of the few organizations is trying to bring antiretroviral drugs and other treatments to HIV/Aids sufferers.
In Africa, fewer than 10 per cent of pregnant African women can get such interventions. Compared with the women in Africa, the pregnant women infected with HIV in the developed world would receive a simple treatment in labour, together with their baby, which reduces the risk possibilities of AID spread.

However, there is still the conflict  between Aids campaigners and the drugs companies who are against generic antiretroviral treatments; some government officers, such as Thabo Mbeki's, believe that HIV can be infected by sex,  or that ARVs can diminish the effect of the virus; and in fact, in Rwanda and Uganda, long-haul truck drivers think they need to have regular unprotected sex in order to keep healthy (Prof. William W. Fisher III, 2005).
Fortunately, a number of individuals and organizations have been helping people in need. There are some tireless doctors who treat Aids patients patiently. Christine Amis, for example, left the safety of a UN compound to continue her work as a nurse for MSF, risking her life so as to make sure she got the drug supply for patients. Nelson Mandela took his own successor, Thabo Mbeki, when he realized that the thousands of unnecessary deaths are caused by South Africa's policy of, including his own son. Dr James Orbinski, the president of MSF, whose organization was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999, wrote the book: Read. Weep. Rage. He encouraged the people infected with HIV to face life bravely.

In the end, it emphasized the importance and imperative of international aid based on the conditions of economic in African countries and international developed countries. However, there is still a long way to go
